Commitment plans & early cancellation

LilyPad commitment plans (3-month, 6-month, 12-month) are billed monthly at a discounted rate compared to the no-commitment 1-month rate.

If you cancel before your commitment period ends, your card on file will be charged the difference between the discounted rate you've been paying and the no-commitment monthly rate, for each month you've already used.

Example

Sarah signs up for the 12-Month plan at 60-min weekly lessons — $280/month instead of the no-commitment rate of $340/month. After 3 months, she pays $280 × 3 = $840.

If she cancels at month 3, the no-commitment rate would have been $340 × 3 = $1,020 for those same lessons. Her card is charged the difference: $1,020 − $840 = $180.

The principle is simple: you only keep the commitment discount if you complete the commitment.

Once your commitment period is fully completed, you switch to month-to-month at your committed rate, with no early-cancellation clause attached. Standard 30-day cancellation notice applies from that point on.

Scheduling

Lessons are booked weekly through your student dashboard. 2× / week students get two recurring slots. Recurring slots can be permanently changed with one week's notice.

Rescheduling

  • 24-hour notice required to reschedule with credit.
  • Maximum 2 reschedules per calendar month.
  • Credits expire 30 days after the end of the month in which they were issued (e.g. a credit issued in May expires June 30).
  • Same-day reschedules are not credited (one courtesy reschedule per quarter for documented illness or emergency).

No-shows & late cancellations

Less than 24 hours notice or a no-show: the lesson is forfeited and no credit is issued.

Late arrivals

Lessons begin and end at the scheduled time regardless of student arrival.

Payment

  • Monthly tuition is charged automatically on the 1st of each month via Stripe (credit card or ACH).
  • Drop-in lessons are paid at booking.
  • Recording sessions require a 50% deposit at booking; balance due at session.

Sick policy

  • 24+ hours notice for illness: makeup credit issued.
  • Same-day illness: one courtesy credit per quarter; subsequent same-day cancellations not credited.

Studio closures

The posted annual schedule covers major holidays and any planned multi-week closures. Lessons affected by these are credited or rescheduled at no cost.

Teacher rescheduling (performances & sessions)

Lewis is a working vocalist and producer in addition to teaching. Occasionally a tour date, a recording session he's tracking on, or a one-off performance will mean a lesson needs to move on his end. Here's how that's handled:

  • Notice: Lewis gives as much advance notice as possible — usually a week or more for known dates. Same-day reschedules from his end happen only in genuine emergencies.
  • Makeups: every teacher-rescheduled lesson is made up at a mutually convenient time, at no cost to you. Your recurring weekly slot stays yours.
  • Tour-length absencesgo on the studio's annual schedule so you can plan around them in advance.

It's part of working with an active artist — occasional flexibility on timing, in exchange for a teacher who's still in the industry making real records.

In-home lessons

Available within a 15-mile radius of Summerlin at +$25/lesson. 24-hour notice required for cancellation; same-day cancellation forfeits the in-home premium plus the lesson.

Recording sessions

48-hour reschedule notice required. Deposit non-refundable but transferable to a future session within 60 days.

Subscription cancellation (post-commitment)

Once your commitment period ends, you can cancel any time with 30-day written notice. Remaining lessons in the current paid month are honored.

No refunds

  • Monthly tuition is non-refundable once the month begins.
  • Unused lessons in a paid month convert to credits per the reschedule policy.
  • Recording session deposits are non-refundable but transferable to a future session within 60 days.

Media release

Opt-in consent for the use of student likeness or audio on the website, social media, and Lily Pad Sessions channel. A separate consent form is required for minors (parent/guardian signature).

Parent / observer

Parents are welcome for the first lesson and milestone lessons (tier promotions, recording sessions). Drop-off is encouraged for regular lessons to maximize student focus.

Code of conduct

Mutual respect, punctuality, instrument care. LilyPad Lessons reserves the right to terminate the teaching relationship for behavior, payment, or scheduling abuse, with one month's notice and prorated refund of unused lessons.
